1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Live on my own for longer than a week. Be a maid-of-honor. Get engaged (!). Have a master's degree (!!).

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
1. Buy/wear less grey. Yes. I mean, I'm currently wearing a grey cardigan, but that was pre-existing. It's a process.
2. I do what I want. I think I did a better job of not forcing myself into needless grief this year.
3. Travel more. I did a remarkable amount of traveling this summer and had a tremendous time, even if...
3a. Go to San Francisco. this didn't happen. NEXT YEAR.

I approve these resolutions and am re-upping. Also,

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A colleague of K's. Some former classmates. No one that I really know.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. Which countries did you visit?
This one! Ha ha, right. No, but I did go on six separate trips this summer! That was pretty intense.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A ~career. Less academic anxiety (HA HA HA!!!). A consistent gym schedule.

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 16, Feelingscon opening ceremonies. July 30, my sister's wedding. December 15, my last class. December 18, submitted my last paper.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Did I mention where I graduated with a Master's?? BECAUSE THAT IS A THING THAT I DID.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Making things much more difficult for myself than they needed to be. Not being as appreciative (or vocally appreciative) of the people I care about as I ought.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was healthier this year than I have been in a long time, to which I largely credit vegetarianism, vitamins, and drinking more water than soda. I have had several migraines lately though, which bears further investigation.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, jeez. What did I buy this year? I bought a lot of nail polish. I'm pretty into these jeans and thrift store pants, right now. I'm pretty excited about the Bikram yoga K and I are signed up to do in January. Does that count?

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
All my doofs and nerds. K. Some of my professors, particularly my Gender and Development prof.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Politicians, perpetually. Several classmates.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Comestibles. Gas (petrol).

15. What were you really, really, really excited about?
Ladyedits. Skins season five. Sexy Popes. Feelingscon. My sister's wedding.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Are You Satisfied?, Marina and the Diamonds. The Edge of Glory, Lady Gaga. Skinny Love, Bon Iver.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder?
Happier, to such a degree that is difficult to express.

The same, or thereabouts.

c) Richer or poorer?
Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading. Telling people I love them. Traveling. Being productive.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being stressed and unhappy. Eating junk food. Re-watching nonsense on youtube.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my family.

June and July. YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE.

Continuously.

The Hour. Skins season five. Parks and Recreation.

On the internet, as is the custom of my people.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Ryan Murphy.

Goliath, Scott Westerfeld. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Rebecca Skloot. Cop in the Hood, Peter Moskos. The City & The City, China Miéville.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Marina & the Diamonds. Lykke Li. Robyn. Lots of ladies. Bon Iver. Watch the Throne.

28. What did you want and get?
A lovely wonderful wedding for my sister. A master's degree. Feelingscon to be life-changingly fabulous.

29. What did you want and not get?
Better stress management skills. More sleep.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Hanna. Thor. Our Idiot Brother. The Black Power Mixtape, 1967-1975. I enjoyed Midnight in Paris and The Tree of Life.

God, what DID I do on my birthday?? That's a really good question. I went to dinner?

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Consistent gainful employment.

"Wear less grey already".

My wonderful friends, K.
